People of earth, attention! Time for a quick update re: the fabulous Hacks on Tap Substack newsletter.
As you have noticed, there has been very little posting here. OK, I’ll be honest… no posting at all. Our apologies. Gibbs and I have been lazy about it, and well, it’s summer and did I say we are lazy? Actually, we are just semi-lazy, but busy with the podcast and our day jobs and all the rest.
I have, however recently started posting on Substack, just not on this account. Why? Well, it’s complicated and our legal team of reasonably priced night law school grads has struggled to fully explain it to me, but let’s just say I cannot just post my stuff here. But… I can plug my new channel and ask you to subscribe to it right now.
Not sure what I’m going to do with Substack… I’ve been playing with it like a wary cat with a smoldering stick of dynamite. To date, I have published two small essays. My big idea was to use my Substack feed for more offbeat ramblings, not just the usual political stuff. You know, windy posts about aliens and romance and Jerry Lee Lewis’ piano playing and small engine repair etc. You have been warned.
The first thing I’ve posted about is a surprising discovery I had during my conversion from Detroit Motorhead to electric car true believer. The second — posted earlier this week — is more the usual political stuff; my take on the silly yet dangerous No Labels third party Presidential caper. Albeit wrapped around a movie plug.
Enough with the links already! Just Subscribe. It’s Free! (Though my ego appreciated the deluge of 3+ people pledging to send money if I do turn it into a fee-based caper. Don’t worry; I do not plan to do that. That reeks of obligation and a job and my pals in Cali already take fine care of me.)
Finally, don’t worry. Gibbs and I may still get something going here once the primary season heats up in October. We are kicking ideas around. In the meantime, Gibbs has been threatening to do some posting on his own, so he may be in contact with his own nefarious plans.
Thanks again for subscribing. Have a great summer.

Clark Gable lookalike? I thought it was Akim Tamiroff.
I’m a Murphy fan; whatever you want to write, I’ll read it.
Murph should have been a comedy writer. What? You say he is a comedy writer?
